In this interview, I have the pleasure of talking to Mami Nakanishi, hypnotherapist in Tokyo, about her practice and her vision of coaching.
Together, we explore the place of hypnosis in the Japanese context, highlighting an essential notion of Japanese culture: the Ma, that interval, that subtle space-time that structures perception, relationship and experience.
In the course of the discussion, we also look at how the unconscious is perceived in Japan, and the resonances – but also the differences – with the Western approach to hypnotherapy.
This meeting opens up a space for dialogue between two cultures and two sensibilities, and shows just how much hypnosis can be enriched by these cross-views.
